Death (A Poem)

Trans. Roshan Koirala

An expressionless nullity you are;

If not today, surely tomorrow

You shall sneak to my side

And sit me on your lap.

You, my inseparable friend

Came to join me at my very birth

That I know.

You won’t ever leave my side

Earthworm (A Poem)

Ever so close about me that you are

Though I see you not.

I am and therefore you are.

You are and therefore am I.

You are eternal, you are ethereal

You are ever-existing and without exception

You are inevitable

And so, from time to time

You make me realize of your existence.

And it’s not just me,

Everyone is being aware of your existence.

Bhim Koirala

You are a ladder

To another phase in Life’s journey.

Remembering you

One becomes free of cravings-

Your contemplation purifies the soul,

Makes the importance of time known.

You are synonymous to my life

And an unexpressed form of it.

My worries take me closer to you.

You are the master of my existence

For you are the one

Who destroys the auxiliary things of my life.

And yet

You are and therefore has my life become worthwhile.

An expressionless nullity you are;

If not today, surely tomorrow

You shall sneak to my side

And sit me on your lap.

Mine you are

For no one can die my death.

The feeling of union with you

I can’t relate to anyone

You’ve set the limits to my ability to know

I am now realizing

That I am just a futile emotion

And hence, O Death! You happen to be

My ultimate form and outcome.
